    The Bowers & Wilkins story

Bowers & Wilkins was founded in 1966 by John Bowers with a singular obsession: to reproduce recorded music as faithfully as possible to the original performance. That obsession has driven over five decades of relentless loudspeaker innovation — from the legendary DM70 to today's flagship 800 Series Diamond.

The 800 Series has been the reference monitor at Abbey Road Studios since 1979, the loudspeaker of choice for some of the most important recordings in history. Every 800 Series speaker is hand-assembled in the company's Worthing, England facility — a testament to craft in an age of mass production.

Beyond the iconic floor-standing towers, Bowers & Wilkins has pioneered architectural speakers that bring reference-quality sound into walls and ceilings without visual compromise. Their CI (Custom Installation) range is the gold standard for luxury residential integration.

In 2023, Bowers & Wilkins introduced the 700 S3 Signature series, bringing many of the 800 Series technologies — including Continuum™ cones and Tweeter-on-Top — to a more accessible form factor, without sacrificing the sonic purity the brand is known for.

    Proprietary Technologies

    Engineering that defines the standard

    Continuum™ Cone

Bowers & Wilkins' proprietary midrange cone material eliminates the break-up modes of conventional drivers. The result is a midrange of extraordinary clarity — voices and instruments rendered with lifelike presence and zero coloration.

    Diamond Dome Tweeter

A tweeter dome formed from chemical vapour-deposited diamond — the hardest known material. It extends the frequency response far beyond human hearing, ensuring zero distortion across the entire audible range and effortless high-frequency detail.

    Tweeter-on-Top™

Decoupling the tweeter from the main cabinet and mounting it atop a solid body eliminates cabinet-edge diffraction, delivering a point-source of high-frequency energy with perfect dispersion and imaging.

    Aerofoil™ Bass Cone

A composite bass cone with a variable-thickness cross-section — thicker at the centre, thinner at the edges — engineered using finite-element analysis to deliver deep, controlled bass with zero cone flex.

    Flowport™

A dimpled bass reflex port inspired by golf-ball aerodynamics. The textured surface reduces turbulence at the port exit, eliminating port noise and delivering cleaner, faster bass response.

    Matrix™ Cabinet Construction

An interlocking internal bracing structure that makes the cabinet walls virtually inert. No energy is wasted as cabinet vibration — every watt drives the drivers, not the enclosure.
